I organized a chess tournament!! - IV Open Amigos de Burguis
YES! How can I be that geeky? Thanks to my chess club (La Casa del Ajedrez de Sevilla, CAS for friends), to which I have an eternal love, I could organize a friendly chess tournament with my friends. I was the arbiter and the club lend me the boards, chessclocks and the place itself. It couldn't have been a better place.
After lots of weeks, finding the day (18-april-2026) was reaaaally difficult. On weekdays it was impossible due to working and other responsibilities (volleyball). During the weekend, volley messes things up. Besides that, people have their own plans of course. After a couple (or more) months, the war was over. Not everyone could play, but I was so happy with the participation.
So, how was it? AWESOME!!! People enjoying chess was my main goal and I could achieve that. Everyone was incredibly focus (I expected some lack of seriousness) and it seems everybody had fun :)
All went the best way I could imagine and We even celebrated Sergio's birthday (Pedro's dad).
I also bought a trophy (1st) and one medal (2nd, 3rd and general) for everyone :)
After the tournament, some people told me they were looking forward to another one. We even talked about my chess club and the team league we play on Sundays. Maybe one day I play chess with some unexpected friends :P
